Thread: Micro-mesh pads?

I picked up a set at 'Home Depot' ($12.99 on the clearance table, no less!) - it was packaged and marketed as a 'SCRATCH AWAY' Metal Sink Restoration Kit, but was nothing more than a set of micro-mesh pads and a bottle of 'Micro-Gloss' liquid abrasive (I haven't tried that one, yet)
here's a link to the same kit
it might save some shipping if you find it locally

EDIT: In digging through the instructions, it identifies the various pads by color and relative fineness/coarseness, but doesn't provide the exact grit ratings.Last edited by scarface; 04-19-2007 at 03:29 PM.

It's kind of hard to line up the Micro-Mesh grades (1500-12000) with the CAMI 'grit' grades, because there's very little overlap! At least on guitar fretwork, I start with the Micro-Mesh 1500 once I've finished with 600-grit sandpaper.
Even if you matched up the particle size exactly, the Micro-Mesh would be less likely to put deep sanding scratches in your work because it's cushioned and spreads out the force.
Have I mentioned that I love this stuff?
