They were beautiful while they lasted.
Made some cross cut zebra scales for my W&B, the stock was very thick almost 1/4th inch, and very hard to work with. I had to break out the dremel to break the corners. All and all they looked pretty good.
But the razor wouldnt close all the way, the toe wasn't touching the wedge or anything, so after a couple drinks i decided, that, "what could go wrong if i put a few pounds of pressure on the spine?" Drunk me figured i would be able to figure out where the rub was if i put a little force into it.
All i can say is thank god i didn't damage my Wade and Butcher, its now back in the Beefwood scales i originally made for it.

Thanked: 1184Or your fingers :<0) You can mix a drink with a straight but never mix a straight with a drink.

Too bad those didn't work out for you, they are nice to look at.

Thanked: 1184Well you might get away with it shaving (I wouldn't suggest trying) but if your working on one and start acting like your pulling a small block out of a Nova something is going to get hurt.
SO , did you ever figure out why they wouldn't close ? Now that the smoke has cleared I got to wonderin'Good judgment comes from experience, and experience....well that comes from poor judgment.

Thanked: 13249The angle of the Wedge needs to match the angle of the Tang, this is what allows the scales to flex and bow correctly while the razor opens and closes..
A cute trick is to use the original wedge to get an idea of that angle, then work from there to make a new wedge
The scales of course have to be thin enough to flex and strong enough to be able to be that thin, Zebrawood should have been fine for materialLast edited by gssixgun; 12-09-2014 at 06:26 AM.
