Thanked: 0Gift from a friend
I received this straight razor in the mail today from a friend and I have no clue what I have. I'm new to safety razors in general and know nothing about straights. So what would it take to restore this, cost and such. Or is it even worth trying to fix? Hoping someone can give me some expert advice. Thanks to everyone in advance

Thanked: 4827I doubt anyone will want to talk prices on the open forum. you should go to the classifieds and look under member services.

Thanked: 0Sorry about that, brand new to the forum. Well forget price, is it even worth trying to fix, or is it a run of the mill razor? If fixed how long would it last? Sorry for all the questions...

Thanked: 4827It looks like it has substantial width to it and depending on how wide it actually is there may be enough left to be a good shaver. It is likely to be a revivable razor and is worth asking. However it is beyond my skill set and as such I am probably not the best judge of this. Get some better pictures and email one of the more hard core restorers. My choices would be Gssixgun, Undream, Silverfish and I am sure there are more those are the ones that I know do nice work and have a lot of experience. However I don't even know what country you are in so those recommendations might not even be valid.

Thanked: 580Not a run of the mill razor, highly sought after, but that is a good size chip. Like RezDog said, I would approach someone who does professional restores and get their opinion. You are going to lose a fair bit of width, but in the right hands, it could still end up a very nice razor. If cared for properly, it will last almost indefinitely.
