A little hone wear on the toe but other than that it looks just fine. I do like shoulder less blades and Challenge made good razors, so it is likely a keeper.

Good blade and a not often seen scale pattern! Fortunate for you!

Nice early Challenge. The company changed the name to Challenge Cutlery in 1899. That puts your razor in the 1889-1899 age bracket.

They made excellent razors and knives.

Nope, no lanyard pulling. Spent 6 months haggling with a pawn shop to get him down from 80.00, but in the end it wasn't making him money sitting on the shelf.

Still you got a winner and haggling is half the fun of looking for a razor. Took four years and more to get one I wanted. The guy died and I got it at a fair price from the widow!
The scales suggest about 1910 onward for the fancy types. Torrey was the main seller of them as extra cost options.

Haggling?? From 80 to 30 is more like beating him down till he can't breath and then kicking him in the gut. Nice job ! it pays to err um haggle "<0)

You can be certain he still made a profit or I am certain he would have told me to "p_ss off"!
