Thanks for all the suggestions guys.
I have to first move things around just to make room to build a wood bench to mount the band saw and small drill press I have.
I think I am going to go with the Craftsman 10" as most reviews rate it much higher than the 9" models. I would love a 14" but I don't have the room.

Get blades of at no more than 6-10teeth per inch for slabbing off plastic, horn and wood; They will cut faster and cooler because they take the heat out with the saw dust.. Get 12-20 tooth for profiling scales.
    they will chip less.
If cutting two scales from one piece, cut them apart and take of the corners a couple times before outlining to the pattern.
Make a false table top of most any masonite or corian and cut to the center of it. tape it down and it will keep material from chipping as much and from vibrating because it is supporting the material at the cutting edge.
Do not use a fence to cut blanks in half. But make up a vertical block that has and make on edge near the blade at the thickness desired.
If the table is steel then a $15 HF mag holder can be locked to the table to make the fence. The reason for doing it this way is to allow you to guide the stock along the line. a saw blade will often want to cut better on one side than the other.Name: magnetic bandsaw guide.JPG

Buy a base and put it on wheels, if space is an issue.

Even a full sized 14 inch older american made bandsaw(delta Rockwell) only has a footprint 18x16 inch and also lockable wheels.
downside is being cast iron, they wgt about 300 lbs

That weight doesn't give or vibrate much either does it :<0)
Good judgment comes from experience, and experience....well that comes from poor judgment.

It will if you are remiss about cleaning and removing swarf and bits from the case and they get pressed into the wheels!
