If you have a welding shop nearby, get a stick of 1/16th brass brazing rod. It'l be about 3 feet long for a buck or two.

Thanked: 3215Most hobby shops and good, old hardware stores carry 1/16 brass and copper rod.
Most of us order on line from Knife maker suppliers, Texas Knife is who I usually buy rod from.
The size of the hole in the pivot does not matter as much as you would think. I used to sleeve or fill and drill them, now unless they are huge, I just pin them normal, once tight they works just fine.
Post some pics, before and after. Everybody likes good repair pics…

Thank you!
Some of the larger Hobby Stores also carry Nickle silver rod in 1/16th at a very fair price. And...it is the right temper for pinning. I have purchased from Hub Hobbies. Unless you go into the K&S metals area a phone call is necessary to find for on line purchase. Some stores have K&S but not the nickle silver rod. They may be able to get it for you next re-order.
K&S to find a seller near to you:

Thanked: 0I have one other question. I have a bench vise that has an anvil. i seen the video on pinning and he put a hole in the hammer for the pin to sit in while peening. Since i will be using bullseye washers. should i do this? or what size hole and how deep to make a hole on my anvil? thank you
