Thanked: 2027Ken,Even if the center pin is a nail,it can be be made to look like a pin with carefull filing and sanding,no need to replace it,just clean it up some.
In reality it really serves no purpose,but if you bend it,that may really screw up your scales,Good luckCAUTION

Thanked: 2027If you have used the masking tape as above,some 220 grit wet or dry should work fine,
