Source for Honey Horn?
Looking for some translucent honey horn scale blanks...
Been watching the auction sites.
Is there a more reliable source?

I bought some on the bay and had a slight twist I h, the seller offered a return or to send another sheet but I was in to big of a hurry , don't remember what seller it came from but im getting ready to order some more from a seller I know I havnt tried yet .. masecraft has some really nice stuff from everyone I know that has ordered from them but I never have $50 to meet there minimum order so I take my chances on the bay since most will offer returns if your not happy or it has a twist

Thanked: 237+1 on mygan. If you look through my started threads and find the first light box photoshoot thread, you will see exactly what that horn can turn into. That was a batch I bought a while back though, their in stock stuff I've seen recently was more dark brown and black. I haven't checked in a few weeks so the honey might be back.
Edit: just checked and the honey is back in stock! I'd buy most of it up if I wasn't broke! Personally I would get the 5mm thick blanks. The 3mm might be too thin YMMV.Last edited by prodigy; 02-26-2015 at 02:56 PM.

That worked gents, thanks!
Does horn need to be sealed or stabilized?
I've done mostly bone of late... never worked with horn, but I am looking forward to it.

If the horn is from a reputable supplier it should already be seasoned and pretty straight - it doesn't need stabilising or being sealed. The good point about buying the 5mm is that you can sand out any slight deformities and ensure you start with a level piece of stock. I've used a lot of horn and it will generally be slightly deformed so 3mm doesn't give enough scope for adjustment in my mind.
My service is good, fast and cheap. Select any two and discount the third.

Ive had great luck with robsbits, the ebay seller Jamie mentioned. Quality material and I really like the thickness of his horn. It allows enough material so I can remove enough to get the aesthetic I want but not so much that I have to spend a ton of time needlessly sanding. Also he has catered to my ocd tendencies as far as matching or requesting predominant streaking in the horn etc.
