Another Boker to Add to the collection!
Boker's have been amongst the best shavers I have ever had. I think my Boker Red injun 101 RP takes the cake as my favorite razor as it takes an edge ridiculously fast, and just feels great with it's extra hollow grind. To top it all off I think I purchased it for about 27 dollars.
Anyhow I found another on eBay that looked like a fixer upper, but I feel that with most brokers you can trust them to be great shavers if you treat them right. And yet again I was not disappointed!
First thing I did was unpin this thing, the pictures of the scales didn't look so bad. Upon arrival though they were a terrible fit, there were slash marks from where the blade cut into the inside scale every time it was closed. The pin I removed looked like an s it was so bent...
After a little bit of sandpaper treatment starting from 320 and going up to polish it's not the best it could look, but worlds better than it began. I was also afraid of removing too much material, I don't know if this is a concern, however it would have taken much more time and I'm not sure I could get all the pitting out.
I had to hone the chips out, the largest of which were at the heel. The tip was very worn down from honing, I couldn't tell if it was intentional to mellow the tip or what, but I just decided to take it down a little further. Now it seems almost like an inverted french tip. I thought of converting it to a full rp, but I don't like the idea of removing that much of the spine.
Put some new Solingen scales on it and it's shaving great!
