Default What's under the rubber handle on a Feather Dx Kami?

Looking to add another Feather Dx (and a Mongoose) to exploit the ease of disposable blades... I have a Dx Kamisori.

In my search for another Dx, I am wondering if I can consider another Kami and make a set of custom scales for it.. What's under the rubber handle? Are the folding and non-folding Dx's the same blade with different handles?

From the search I have done, it appears as though the kamisori is not simply a folder with a rubber grip. Judging by where the the engraved logo starts on the shank of the folder and that the logo plate on the handle of the Kami seems to be part of the shank...these two are uniquely different blades...

    Can anyone confirm?

I can't tell you what's under the grip - but I have converted a CJB into a folder - in fact, they come with a pivot hole already drilled.

With the Feather, I would think that, as long as you are OK with the tang length, then drilling a pivot hole, if there's not one there already, should not be a problem. I suppose the question is - why would you want to convert it if you already have a folding DX?
My service is good, fast and cheap. Select any two and discount the third.

Thanks.. but I suspect the Feather isn't going to work as smoothly as I would like. To your question, I have the non-folding Dx and want a folder. I don't see a lot of the folding Dx's for sale and was wondering if I could broaden my search to include a non-folder to convert. From closer inspection of my non-folder, I don't think it will work. I'll stick to looking for a donor folder..

Conclusion.... For those interested... I was advised by a member of the following.. "I took the rubber off one of the feather kamis, and scaled it. ..... Nothing weird under there. The logo had to be ground off if I remember correctly. The 'tang' is straight, which works fine but it's a little weird looking."

So with that said, I am not going to pursue the Kami as a donor for a rescale..

Russ, thanks... if I were on a game show, I would wager the full pot that what you've pictured is a CJB.. not a Feather.

    I don't think it is a CJB - here's one I converted.

Odd.. I've had the CJB, Feather RG and Feather Dx and I don't recall the CJB having the contour line across the spine, nor having jimps... Are you saying what you've pictured is a CJB??

Here is an autopsy of a CJB...

Looks as though I posted the wrong photo - maybe it's this one - either way the CJB is nothing like #7
