Thanks, I will probably avoid the dremel, or at least search for a similar tool with variable lower RPM.

Thanked: 4828I don't polish with my dremel but I always use a foot pedal, there are things you need to remember with a dremel, wheel rotation is the big one, always away from the edge never towards it, you can also generate too much heat quite quickly

Think the hand sanding will keep me busy enough up until I get my bench buffer. But was just curious. Think I'll just work at mastering the better tool for polishing.

Thanked: 2591I use Dremel on some blades with self made sanding sleeves, then hand sanding or buffer depending what finish I am going for.
On the hand sanding side for best finish (no scratches from sanding) I use powdered abrasives progression.Stefan

Thanked: 3215Anyone that uses a Dremel for any length of time has a horror story, as does anyone using a buffer or… hand sanding, it’s why we use holders for razors and sand paper.
Go slow and think about what you are about to do, before you do it. Slow is the key word here.
I lightly breadknife an edge before I work on it, I will hone it when finished anyway, just a little extra safety…
