    Default Heavy spine wear HELP!!

Picked up some junk to play with the other day. Razor in question is a torrey half wedge? That has uneaven spine wear on one side creating a ugly bevel if any. Would flattening out the side of the spine and then taping resolve this. If not what would.Name: uploadfromtaptalk1428531987138.jpg

The issue could be incorrect honing, but it also could be uneven grind when the razor was made.
If past bad honings are the problem, then you can correct the issue. If the problem is the grind, you probably will not be able to correct the issue. In general even with uneven bevels a razor can be honed to shave well.

I would first check if the razor is straight. Lay on flat surface and see if it makes contact full length of blade. Do both sides. If a side makes contact at toe and heel. Place tape in area that does not make contact until it lays level. Then place tape full length of blade. I have done this and gotten an even bevel.

Thats it exactly. One side is flat. The other has been heavy handed (frowned)

Are you taping the spine? That razor has a lot of wear and a lot of metal has already been removed. There are ways to make the bevel smaller and prettier, but it involves removing more metal. If you're hone is hitting the entire bevel from heal to toe on both sides, hone it up and call it good. If it's not hitting the entire bevel ad a layer of tape. Don't worry about having a double bevel as long as you are putting a fresh edge on the entire length of the blade. That razor will never be a looker, but you can probably make it a good shaver.
