Removing rust and discoloration
Hey guys, I purchased a vintage razor off of ebay about 6 months ago. After putting it properly oiled in storage it for about a month (switched to a new blade) I noticed some rust and discoloration on the blade it self and around the pin. Does anyone have advice on the best way to remove this without harming the blade? Thanks in advance

anything special ablut the blade decorations wise?
If not then try salt and lemon juice as the least abrasive combo I can think of.
Other than that you could try some metal polish. Only go to sand paper as a last resort.

That sounds like it could be pretty corrosive, don't think I've heard of it before.
Any metal polish will remove most of gold etchings in a single stroke. It's very difficult if not impossible to retain that if corrosion is present. Regular dark engraving holds up much better.
Maas seems to be the most popular polish used around here. I like Flitz so much that I haven't been motivated to try anything else.

no more corrosive than a vinegar solution and less abrasive that any metal polish
I made the assumption that the blade would be well washed following it's use
