Challenge Cutlery Restoration
So, I bought this blade at a flea Market with an eye towards fixing it up myself. It is a Challenge Cutlery 13/16 full hollow, square point razor. the Company is from Bridgeport CT according to the tang. I still want to put some work in buffing up the scales a little, but I shaved with it this afternoon and it worked just fine, given my relatively low number of total shaves with Straights. quite pleased with how it turned out.

I started cleaning up the blade with 220 grit W/D, moved to 400, 800, 1000, then 2000. Honing was done via lapping film . . . bevel set with 15um film (500 laps), followed by 200 laps on a 3um sheet, a 0.5 um sheet, and then a 0.1 um sheet to finish.

Thanked: 2209That looks like a good restore plus you honed it up yourself to a good shaving edge. Well done.

Nice job!
I'm big fan of Challenge knives and razors. They take forever to hone, but they hold an edge for a long time as well. Some people never go crazy. What truly horrible lives they must lead - Charles Bukowski
