    Lightbulb Spares bank idea.

I assume sometimes, in the frenzy of customizing, fixing or fancying razors, some good original parts can be left unused in hobbyists, restorers and artisans drawers (e.g. me, who have a nice pair of rubberite original scales for a #4 Heljestrand, and the same for a 5/8 false frameback Klas Törnblom).
Now I am in need of original scales for a Heljestrand Viking Stainless (#42 profile) that I bought with great blade but cheap and ugly imitation tortoise scales.
I know my search can be long lasting and unfruitful, but for sure a spares database in such huge community as SRP would be of great help, and could be a nice info sharing space between hobbyists, restorers and custom shops.

    What do you think, people?

Try the “Want to Buy”, in the, Classifieds.

Thank you, Euclid. My needs are already there. I just posted this here because of the idea. The WTB section of the classifieds are, indeed, useful and my first choice to advertise my needs, but without specificity sections dedicated to this specific collector's demand (as the sections for services, DEs, SRs, Hones, strops, aftershave, soaps, postshave etc.), that could turn browsing through classifieds more efficient and easy.
Of course, i don't know if this is viable, if the demand justifies and I can be just talking BS. My intention here was just to share a brain fart.

I've got a perfect Viking stainless with pristine original scales. I'm going to be re-scaling it in ivory as I love ivory and don't feel an overt compulsion to keep everything strictly original... send a pm for details I'm sure we could figure something out.

Just realized that post might have seemed to be or have been against forum rules. I'm not trying to sell the scales, just offering to help a member.. hope that doesn't conflict with rules, I'm new to this.

I also like the idea of a spares bank! Looking in my box of spares right now and it has a good variety of pieces..
It would feel good to be able to help people complete projects, especially with supplies I never use!

I think there is way too much spare stuff floating around to be worth cataloging it all. For an individual, let alone for a segment of the community. At least, that's the way it is for me. Even the idea of photographing all the spare "good" blades I have is too much.

I see your point, perhaps the classifieds are sufficient. I'll start checking the classifieds (never have before) to see if I can help.. maybe doing a written cataloging of my own will help me know what I can donate/trade..

I think it useful just to get the idea across that the pile of parts many of us are sitting on could go to better use. A subforum for spare parts might be in order to sort the listings and requests from other want to buy and sales forums.

The only issue I could see would be maintaining the lists. Provided it otherwise met with forum rules, though I am not speaking with any authority here.
