Tang wraps on kamisori
Never thought they were a good idea...
The wrap on this one was fully sealed & tight.. I had to cut it off..

Ouch , I have been pondering this for a few weeks, no kidding, I've been debating it , I have a new traditional Kami being made for me and I was asking myself if that was a good idea with something around water. Thanks for posting this Oz. tc

That did not happen over a week's time.
Will you rewrap? If you don't care where you are, you are not lost.

Thanked: 228Oh wow. Regardless of the type of razor/kamisori, I always try to get no water on the handle or scales.

Would it be viable to get some strips of sting ray hide, and wrap it tight using some heated bees wax for waterproofing?

And if you clean the corrosion and then wrap the linen thread and then impregnated with epoxy resin. Maybe it would be better? It will be similar to the "miсarta".

Thanked: 0This is Kousuke Iwasaki Tamahagane, rare and one of the best kamisori ever made. In my opinion would be shame to wrap it.
Would like to see it after restoration, omote side too.
Thx for sharing this beauty
