Tried to save it with some gentle heat, but I don't like the results.

Hey Guys,
Vinegard and blued this blade up. Because its not a flimsy piece of crap its holding together.
The patina isn't as good as the others but I think that is because the other 2 blades I exposed fresh steel for the vinegar to attack.
This one I just removed a few rust spots..
I'm defiantly gonna practice a bit more because I wanna do a blade for me like this.

Still looks nice, almost black if I can see right? Must make it a heck of a lot easier to see a bevel!
It looks really nice actually. I'll take some daylight pictures when I get the chance.
Just looking at it I can see that it did fracture multiple times . They fractures are in the middle of the blade and none near the bevel thankfully.
They are vertical and don't penetrate through the blade , they seem like surface fractures. If the blade was any thinner then it would have gone through.
It must be a chemical reaction involving Acetone , Vinegar , Bluing liquid. We need a scientist on the forum :hmmm:

I tried my heat gun & held it about 1 1/2 feet away & I also turned the heat down on the gun but they did the same thing as those did. They were beyond repair so I made some more. I remember using even strokes to keep them from getting too much in one spot but they did the same thing. Ever since then, I have never used my heat gun again to fix warped scales.
