It would help to know where you are so that a mentor in your area could help you. Post it in your profile so that one can find you.

Thanked: 0Ah, that is ok, at least you are good at shaving right?
Seriously: Belgium?? Hmm, that is kinda far. Belgium Brussels does have one nice small SR and DE shaver shop called: De Messenwinkel From which I ordered many DE blades cheaply as they sell boxes and give discount on it.

Thanked: 0I am waiting for my local wood supplier to come back from vacation. Then I am going to buy a few types of hardwood.
And start carving and sanding it. Sounds: <carve, carve> . . . <sand, sand>

I've used copper pins in place of brass or nickel silver - they work fine. If they are rivets that you've bought, you might want to file the head down before you assemble the razor as it will be much bigger than the usual peened head. Try them with brass washers - the contrast in colour looks good.
I would not worry about verdigris - if it does happen it's likely to be on the inside scales where it will not be seen. Using your razor and wiping down the scales reagularly should mean that you don't get any build up on the outsides. My service is good, fast and cheap. Select any two and discount the third.

There has been fairly good discussion about the use of copper for pins. I didn't look up the link but you should search that. The information was quite good.
I've thought about the same and bought copper rod at the hobby store (a little thicker). It's easy to work with.
One consideration brought up that stands out in my mind when I think about using it is that it is softer. This presents a couple issues. 1: It will possibly get loose easier if used as a pivot pin. Perhaps less likely as a wedge pin. 2: It is softer and rubbing against the harder steel will create more friction causing more wear of the tang hole and or pin. A harder metal for the pin reduces this wear.
These are considerations that the manufacturers of old most likely took into account, thus you will not often if ever see straight razors with hinge pins of copper.
But if these factors are understood, there may be room for copper pins in your design. I haven't ruled out its use and plan on using copper on at the very least wedge pins and accent pins. I love the look of copper and its nice to work with.
Hope this helps.“You must unlearn what you have learned.”
