    Default Gilded Kindal custom scales.

That beautiful gilded scales Heljestrand MK31 is back on eBay. The scales of the current offered item are very well preserved, but I had seen scales with worn gold and black. Gold is gold, it's unmistakable, but what the hell is the black inlay material? Enamel? Some sort of paint?
Anybody have a razor like this one to tell me what appears to be?

I would believe that the black is a true melted glass enamel. And the inlays are silver brazed into place on the chased/ engraved silver scales.
I was a jeweler for a while and enjoyed the possibilities the processes allowed.
