Thanked: 0Looking for help repairing a wave.
Hi All,
I just got back from a trip abroad, and my bag was searched by TSA.
Long story short when they closed the blade the edge bit into the scale.
The damage is about 2/5 up from the heel.
I have a Norton 4000/8000 stone.
Any tips or techniques would be much appriciated.

That's a bummer. You could try just honing it out out on the 4k. Another way would to do some high angle honing until you get it straightened out then reset the bevel with your 4k. IMO unless it is a really small chip I wouldn't bother with a 4k and just get yourself a 1k and save yourself the time and carpal tunnel syndrome.
depending on where you live you may try and contact a member local to you for some help. You can't lose with that, at least you get yourself a hands on lesson that will only accelerate your learning curve.

Have it honed. Send them the bill.
The white gleam of swords, not the black ink of books, clears doubts and uncertainties and bleak outlooks.

They search some of the checked bags too.

Wots a wave and where is a picture?
"Don't be stubborn. You are missing out."
I rest my case.
