    Question Coping saw recommendations?

I'm looking at coping saws for scale making and maybe some limited wood working. Does anyone have any recommendations on blade size, teeth, brands, etc?

I know nothing of coping saws so any info you could share would be helpful. Right now I'm just looking at brands I know like Stanley and Bahco.

    Thanks.

The choices for coping saws is very limited, the names you mentioned is about all you'll find. The packs of blades usually have 2, maybe 3 different TPI selections in one package. I do a lot of finish carpentry at work and have searched high an low for better coping saws and bet blades. You just won't find them.

The next step up is something like this, which is the same price as a good scroll saw.

The Knew concepts looks pretty cool. It might be a bit beyond my needs and skill.

I have had a few different brands over the years, used mostly for coping trim. The Sandvik brand was the best I've used in terms of saws and blades. I do not remember the tooth per inch count but there were not a lot of choices.

Is Sandvik now BAHCO? I think I read that concerning cabinet scrapers at one point.

I believe you are correct and the quality has not changed.

I use the Eclipse brand one from woodcraft and the medium teeth blades. It works very well in my use cutting various types of hardwood for scales. Here is a link to the page on woodcraft.com:
