What is weird about buffing with greased compound is there is more than one way to get to a finish.

A lot depends on what you are buffing, stainless vs carbon, plastic vs horn and the prep/ condition of the surface.

I use the Emery and Tripoli interchangeably, not both, you just have to experiment, but like honing don’t be suprized if you don’t get the results you want just because you did what you did the last time. You have to do what the piece needs.

A final buffing with Corn Starch or Castwell’s Haze remover on a clean loose wheel cannot be overlooked, as can final hand polish with a good metal polish, there again experiment.

I wish to advise you to get a thread locker/sealant such as loctite or a liquid thread locker for assuring the long term tightness of the set screws on the additions to the buffer you bought. Do a search for "Loctite, Australia"

Because of its high rotational speed, and the very long overhang, any looseness will cause a wobble and that can quickly get out of hand and control. When that happens it may cause the machine to be jumping off the table or to cause the shaft or buff to fly off and do damage.

First reaction is to grab....DON'T. hit the floor or get behind something! I have taken one guy to the emergency room because of that during my career.
    Have fun and be safe!
