Thanked: 0Winter Project
My goal is to get as many of these razors as I can as pretty as I can and have them be shave ready. I won't start until the temp gets below freezing the first time. I know they are rough but what else do I have to do with my time. I may end up sending the Wosty to gssixgun so I don't mess it up and so I can have a shave ready to compare to while I'm working.
I tried to take a picture of each side of the blade. Missed the back side of the bottom one. the pictures are in pairs front and back. The razors are:
1. Hope razor company improved eagle razor. I'm going to make it a round point to get rid of the hole. I should miss the etching but it'll be close.
2. All I can make out is Montgomery Wa before the pitting. I'm not hopeful on this one but I hope I can do something. Its a massive thick razor that feels good in the hand.
3. Wostenholm IXL, probably the blade in the best shape to me untrained eye.
reached the end of my allowed pictures I'll post the rest in a reply.
4.Lee's warranted, I could shave with this one now the edge is in great shape the pitting worries me some. I can't see a frown even though the picture shows one.
5. Lee's warranted, doesn't have the lee mfg co. Germany stamp on the other side of the tang like the first one. Also has a chip in the blade.
6.Masterpiece razor, has a frown. Going to remove the frown should make it a 4/8 if I'm careful. this is the narrowest razor on the list.
My total cost for all these was about $25 so I know they are in bad shape but If I can make anything of any of them I'm doing alright in my book.
Please tell me your opinions on these blades so I can benefit from your experiences. I'm new to restoring and honing I don't even have the hones I was going to use yet. I was going to wait till I had the DMT to reshape what blades needed it and then sand and buff the blades followed by a rescale for all of them then on to honing. I can do a deep bevel set like Glen has talked about in posts to see if the damage is too close to the edge before I do anything else to them.
