Thanked: 77Things that would cause a razor to cut into its own handle.
I'm having problems with a straight razor that won't stop leaning to one side and cutting into its horn scales. I know that the pivot is not to loose so is there anything else that would cause this.

Things that would cause a razor to cut into its own handle.
1. Emotional pain from being put to the hone.
2. To gain a sense of control when other things like shaving cream choice is not their choice.
3. To punish themselves for a less than BBS shave.
4. Some find the act enjoyable.
5. To get a reaction from the other razors in the rotation.
Luckily for you there is intervention for such razors, a good restoration expert can fix that for you. We have several here to choose from;

We really should not encourage Hirlau . The uninitiated may not appreciated his warped sense of humor.

other than warped scales and Hirlau's masochistic razor theories... a bent pin, a rescale that didn't account for asymmetrical tang shape, or a warped blade could also cause it.
