Default Wade and Butcher that spoke to me...

For some reason this W&B spoke to me. So I tossed out common sense and picked her up. I don't care about the scales because I have something totally different in mind. I wanted the blade and for next to nothing I picked her up. I'm looking forward to transforming her and bringing her back to life.

The story on the scales was that they were made during WWI as a trench repair. I'm going to try and salvage them as a keep sake because of the story.

$20 was hard to say no to. I may be cheap but I'm definitely easy.

I like to keep the old scales, if usable, on those as a history of what tales it could tell. I have seen that blade shape in a WWI documentary showing trench life. An infantryman was shaving throat to chin with the scales straight out from the blade...and no lather!
Enjoy your find however you decide to dress it! Nice catch!

Thanks, Im kind of a gross amateur history buff and this kind of item just screams my name. I wish I could prove the story but I can't. It would be amazing to follow them through time and how they ended up in my hands.

Silly me, But I can see making that blade a square-point style, lopping the scales at the pivot and shape, sand, smooth, finish them. A proper pin job with some largish brass collars.
    Just a thought....

That's ram horn - it makes nice scales but not pleasant to work with. Cow/Buffalo is nowhere near as bad in terms of smell.
My service is good, fast and cheap. Select any two and discount the third.

I'm really interested to see what you do with it.
