Thanked: 22I need to regrind/restore a blade.
Hi,
I bought recently a blade from a brazilian artizan (knife maker artizan) who started to make straight razors. Unfortunately my razor came with many fails and my question is: Who could regrind/restore my razor? (of course i'll pay for the work and shipment).
I tried to work the blade but i gave up. Is a very hard stainles steel blade.
The razor:

The razor has honewear on both sides, uneven bevel, i think something wrong on the spine close to the tang and the blade is not aligned with the scale.
Thanks.Last edited by cariocarj01; 10-25-2015 at 09:20 PM.

Why not send it to the maker? They should stand behind their work!!

I think I would send that back and tell them to contact me again after they learn how to make a razor.

Unless you have a sentimental attachment to that razor I would pass on a regrind\restore. As my grandfather was fond of saying.. "It's liken to putting lipstick on a pig." But if you insist on having it done look here in the classified section under member services. http://straightrazorpalace.com/class...wcat.php?cat=4

Thanked: 3215Looks like a Gold Dollar re-grind.
Probably not worth the cost to fix, the pin hole was not drilled straight.
Send it back…

For fear of offending you, i hope it was very cheap, unless the photos are not doing it justice it looks pretty shoddy.

Hi, Carioca.
I AM from Brazilian too and I know the maker of the blade. The artisan is a good-willed guy, a so-so knifemaker but just don't have the skills and know-how on what is a razor and how to make one.
His custom razors are made of good steel, but good razors are not made from good intentions. Return the product and buy a razor, IMO. Sorry.

Thanked: 22I was thinking on that, but i want somebody else to do the jobb.
Thanks.
There is no offense on your comment edhewitt.
Thanks.
I bought the razor in a atempt to suport the only one who makes St8razor in Brasil.
I saw the pictures on a brasilian forum and some was promising but not perfect and decide to buy one. But i'm not happy at all with the razor.
I have about 20 razor (solingen, french, swedish razors) and this one is not near to the quality of my others razors.
EDIT: I forgot to tell that he started to make razors about 6 months ago.Last edited by cariocarj01; 10-31-2015 at 04:32 PM.
