Thanked: 0electric motor for my grinder
Hi people,
Please, sorry if I posted it in a wrong section.
I need to replace the electric for my grinder. The previous one does not have any specifications.
Please, can you recommend any type of motor?
thanks

What type of grinder are you using? One of the 2"X72" ? some other type of belt? Grinding wheels on a Mandrel driven by a motor? Isn't there an inspection plate / spec. Plate anywhere on your current motor? They'll usually say xxx watts or xxxx amps , xxx RPMs. ? Seems odd yours doesn't have it somewhere on it.

Thanked: 0I have 2"x72" grinder with abrasive belts. I purchased it via the Craigslist in a good condition a year ago. The motor is without any plate. It is also old.
How do you think can this motor be applied for my grinder? https://www.mrosupply.com/motors/ac-...thon-electric/

For that type of grinder most companies suggest around a 1 HP motor. Speed can be controlled with step pullys . A lower HP motor will spin the belts but I fear will fall short when it comes to " laying" on the tool to remove a lot of material.
Hopefully others will chime in to add their experience with these machines. I also think this is a case where bigger is better.
