Default Removing stains from old blade

I've removed the rust from an old W&B blade through successive sandpaper grits to 1500. Reasonable shine, good enough for my conservative restoration tastes. Maas made it sparkle pretty nicely. However, there remain some black stains where some of the more severe rust was. Nothing that causes functional or cleaning problems, just a bit unsightly. I can live with it but thought I'd ask...any methods for taking those kind of stains out?...short of trying to sand past them?

    Thanks.
