My first attempt of wood carving - box for a stone.
Hi.
I really like this stone so i've decided that i must figure out some box for it. I know it is not perfect but hey, not to shabby for a first time, don't you think? Now, my vintage thuringian is next in line.

Cool box.
How did you make the slot for the stone?

Thanks. With a chisel. Pine wood is quite soft so it didn't took me long.

nice job on the box and carving. pine isn't the easiest to carve IME especially across grain. very fitting for a vintage stone. Many old Arkansas stone i've found were in simple pine boxes.

Thanks, i have a nice chunk of wenge wood. I'll use it for next box. But i must buy some proper chisels first. Would you recommend some good, not to expensive chisels for a beginner?

Thanked: 98Well done Maciek, far as chisels, I have no idea, 2nd hand is the thrifty way to go. Maybe talk with local wood workers?

Nice work! Even though pine is soft that is still not any easy cut out to make! Have fun with your wenge wood, it is quite a bit harder but does finish nicely

If you use power tools, a router could do fast and neat work of removing interior wood to form the stone slot.
To deobfuscate is to convert something that is difficult to un͝d̡͝e҉͞r̴͝st̨̕a͘͢n̢̛d̕̕ ̧͝
into one that is simple, understandable and straightforward.
