I had a delightful surprise with the acquisition of a DD Satin Wedge. I cleaned it up a little with MAAS to see what was really there. The whole tang has a fine satin finish to it. Looks like a micro sand blast. Is this how they really are or has some one treated it? Question is it a an acid wash that makes the satin finish?

It looks like it was dipped in some sort of jeweler's cleaning wash that took most of the pinta out of the satin finish. Question is this the case?

Now the big questions? if I can get the right "cleaning solution?" can I remove the old clean line (all the pinta) or will it always show through?

Does anyone do this kind of acid wash finishing today?

Thank you in advance.
