Deligthful surprise but more questions now...
I had a delightful surprise with the acquisition of a DD Satin Wedge. I cleaned it up a little with MAAS to see what was really there. The whole tang has a fine satin finish to it. Looks like a micro sand blast. Is this how they really are or has some one treated it? Question is it a an acid wash that makes the satin finish?
It looks like it was dipped in some sort of jeweler's cleaning wash that took most of the pinta out of the satin finish. Question is this the case?
Now the big questions? if I can get the right "cleaning solution?" can I remove the old clean line (all the pinta) or will it always show through?
Does anyone do this kind of acid wash finishing today?
Thank you in advance.

Thanked: 98I like your DD, the micro blast may be a Soda blast, are you wanting to polish the razor or keep that SATIN Wedge look?? I would re-blast it myself, JM.

Really helps a lot when you use 'Dubl' instead of 'Double' with "Duck" in your searches.
Some of the fun games dyslexia can play on me. I didn't realize I was spelling out the whole word. The good thing is once I see it I do not make the mistake again.
After a couple hours today I find there were a couple of models of Dubl Duck Satin Wedges. Fancy ones and plan Jane like mine. It did come with a fine satin finish on the tang and I have the classic shrunken/warped scales too. Har!
Will check out the local soda blasting shop soon and I got clear scale material yesterday.Shave the Lather...

Thanked: 4828There was a post by Geezer aka Richard recently. In it he was saying that it is easy to do a soda blast with an inexpressive tool related to airbrushes called an air eraser. I googled it and it seems it would be a simple adventure. It is on my list of things to try, but time evades me.
