    Default Spacers.

My question for the folks that know is on a lot of the older razors next to the blade on both sides of the blade there is an exstremly thin spacer. Is there a place to order them. so far I have been making my own by using brass washers that are thicker and beating them out with a hammer then redrilling the hole to 1/16 and sanding them to the same size. any ideas out there.

Roger are you referring to the thrust washer inside at the pivot? Tc

I do the same thing, a PITA but if you make a bunch of them at the same time it's not so bad. Drilling a hole through a piece of steel plate and using a corresponding punch I'm sure you could get some thin brass sheet and make some that way. Maybe I'll try that.....

I order mine from microfasteners.com. When I originally had to replace some in my first straight, I took a picture, emailed it to them, and they told me the exact ones I needed. Plus, they're priced really well.
I have a corgi, life is complete.

Yea, microfastners, hit them with a hammer, the hole size should not change, if it does a 1/16 in drill in a pin vise will resize it, takes a second.

Here is the low down on How to, When and Where.

Yes. the older ones are so thin. I have a few I got from Maggard but there fairly thick. I have been taking them and using a hammer flattening them to less that 1/2 there thickness the redrilling the hole and rounding them out on a belt sander. pain in the well you know.

They don’t need to be perfectly round unless the scales are translucent.

    These are easy mate
Drill 1/16" holes in some 10 thou" or less brass shim plate then use a paper ring file punch to punch them out with the hole centred
This usually curls the shim when punched but easily taps back flat on your pinning anvil
Then a quick rub on some 1k or more grit wrt & dry to clean up
    Job done
Or you can peen the #0 washers thiner
    Saved,
    to shave another day.
