If I have to do a lot of work on a bevel I'll use a DMT 325. It's very fast and the jump to Chosera 1k is not that bad.

well, I honed it and shaved with it this morning. Quite uncomfortable. Obviously as a newbie, this honing thing is gonna take some time. I can only imagine my bevel was never properly set. I thought it passed the thumb pad test, but maybe not. Under loupe, it looks pretty clean. Oh well...I think I need to get a 1k stone and start over from the beginning.

The Chosera 1k is a beauty and adding slurry makes a huge difference to its cutting power.

got my King 1k in the mail last week. Put it to work! This Bengall honed up nicely. I started all over with a bevel set on the 1k King, then on to my Norton 4/8 combo. Took my time, and was very happy with the results once stropped. Came away with probably my closest shave so far! I'm working on the rest of my razors now with a primary bevel set on the King 1K, and am getting great results. All are passing the HHT. Cant wait to shave with them....

Great news. Getting a proper bevel set makes everything else a breeze.
The older I get the more I realize how little I actually know.
