CA soda extension
[ATTACH]226128[/ATTACH
Pivot end was done a little different.
First was to build a shallow bed on the wax paper, then lay the flat side of the scales on it, then buried the end of the scales with soda.
Glue and spray with accelerator, sand flat side first, put pins through holes and sand shape.

Well the end result still looks good.
I've got a pair of ivory scales that I need to repair, but I'm still trying to get the color mix correct. Next time I go to the dentist I'm going to see if they can do a color match for me.Some people never go crazy. What truly horrible lives they must lead - Charles Bukowski

Thanked: 1184I find large posts with lots of pic tend to freeze up. Try laying it all out on note pad and copy paste it in faster than somebody can reply. Can't tell you how many times you guys missed my life story and only got to see the razors :<0)
Great post anyway.Good judgment comes from experience, and experience....well that comes from poor judgment.

Worked awesome on my guitar nut. I've discovered that this works better with the thin CA glue because the regular doesn't soak in as easily. I tried it with a little pile of Bakelite filings but it never really hardened. I'll keep looking to find something black that I can mix it with.
