Better to use the tools you have safely, take a bit longer and enjoy the finished product than injure yourself and have a half finished project.

Looking forward to your progress however. I already have an anvil but am going to make a post anvil soon. I have to steel, just need to shape and heat treat.
I find it hard to believe that this advice was given at all, if you have ever seen a disc explode it is really ugly. Guards are designed for a reason.

You know the guy that recommended it to me explicitly told me that I need a face gaurd and glasses... He's a local blacksmith... But thanks! I always appreciate safety advice it has come in handy on more than one occasion

The face shield and glasses won't protect the rest of your body though. If I wanted to use larger discs I would but a grinder to suit, regardless of the guys profession I would take advice to bypass safety features with caution.

I think ur taking me the wrong way.... U had mentioned that it's hard to believe the advice was given at all so I was letting u know where it came from:.. Not saying he's a blacksmith and knows more lol hahaha but really I appreciate the word of caution, I could have very well hurt myself... Thankfully I won't have to hear any "I told you so's"
