I have two thoughts. The first is if you can grab it cheap and then flip it as is, we are talking about some pretty easy cash, and then buy some pre ban ivory blanks a and a couple nice razors. There are a few guys on the forum that have pre ban ivory and you could likely buy blanks or scales from them. Those two pieces would be a crazy number of scales. I would hope that they would go for at least close to what they are worth, but if not...

Thanks for the responses, guys. Especially Bob & Bouschie! I was born in '86, by which time they were already working on a complete ban of ivory trade. So beyond its source, the fact that new ivory was forbidden (and practically taboo in my mind), I haven't really come across any to know how to tell real from fake .

After a bit of web-fu, it seems the one(s?) I posted pics of are, more than likely, actually a resin re-pop. Pffft... those ain't gonna fit with the decor of any of our rooms!

Like I alluded to earlier, ivory doesn't really interest me. I only considered this because 1) it was a traditional material; and 2) if I could get pre-ban for really cheap, why not play around with it ??

Thanks again guys. Still going to that auction, though . There are two DE I'm gonna try to scoop up... never used one, might be good for travel, etc...
