Thanked: 15Gold Dollar Razor Scans
Hey,
Can someone scan the blades of unscaled Gold Dollars?
Would be nice, cause I have the option to do some woodwork now, but I'm not able to buy some Gold Dollars now.
So a scan from a flatbed scanner would be perfect to plan the scales.

Thank you

Welcome aboard Chris,,,,,,,,,,
After reading through your posts on SRP,,, it indicates that you are located in Germany; is that true?
How are you having difficulty in obtaining a Gold Dollar to rescale?
Let us know a little more about your situation & something can be worked out.

Thanked: 15Hi Hirlau,
Yes, I'm located in Germany. The problem consists of two problems:
1. I'm a bit short of money. I know 5$ is quite little money, but I just can't spend money for something like this for the next two month.
2. I have access to industry grade woodworking machines and free hardwood, which ends in two month.
So making scales now and buying and scaling the Gold Dollars later seems like a good solution to me.

Hello. any reason it has to be a Gold dollar? Are you just looking to make scales? Scales can be made without a lot or any power tools. Are you looking to making these on a 3D printer? do you have access to a straight razor or any other scales? A little more information on your final objective would be helpful. The fun part of making scales is in the design. Unless I just wanted to make blanks or a specific scale I would design the scale around the blade. I am sure you can get dimensions online. I don't have a gold dollar but if you want I can send you scans of other blades. PM me your email and I will send them to you. Good luck.

Thanked: 1184With a quick search I found this >>> http://straightrazorpalace.com/works...ml#post1575206
You may be able to draw something up from that info. or a little more searching may lead you to some better measurements. Lots of guys in here have played with Gold Dollars but the excitement seems to have died down :<0)
It's a restoration for a different blade but he compares this blade to a Gold Dollar and uses GD scales he traced.
This fellow may be able to help you if you can contact him. He loved playing with Gold Dollars :<0) http://straightrazorpalace.com/custo...ml#post1208432Last edited by 10Pups; 02-17-2016 at 03:02 PM.
Good judgment comes from experience, and experience....well that comes from poor judgment.
