Clauss polish
Just finished up sanding and polishing this big Clauss that I got in a pack of several blades with no scales. Didn't have much rust, but what it did have was deep. I was able to get a lot of it out, but a few are here to stay. Now I just need to figure out what kind of scales it wants.

Thanked: 4827When in doubt always go with streaked horn. Black with white or honey with black or honey with white, they will all be outstanding. Of course the wedge should be bone or lead.

I was kind of thinking something a little more showy. The other Clauss blades I have, have really fancy scales. I've drawn out some gunstock scales, you can see in the pics. I was thinking some kind of acrylic or g10 or micarta. Something with color.

Thanked: 4827That's why I said streaked horn. There is some really cool acrylic/wood material out there. Trimmy uses it in his brushes often. G-10 and micarta are kind of ho hummm.

Thanked: 4827I think that the Jade Ghost has been overdone. For the longest time it was everywhere. One of the things with the man made products is that it is al identical. That is part of the beauty in wood and horn, and a few of the acrylics is that they tend to be one of's.

I agree with Shaun.
I have been doing some kirinite but much prefer the horn or wood. They have more soul.If you don't care where you are, you are not lost.

Thanked: 3215I agree, Horn or Masecraft faux Tortoise, (Polyester Tortuga here). Stick with the Classic Style, using the original scales as a pattern.
The Clauss are shavers, nice work.
Enjoy.

Now some tortoise I can definitely get behind.. I just feel like I have enough horn, unless it's something shiny like musk ox.
