My latest project
An old Straight Razor from Wade & Butcher Sheffield whith Walnut wood scales (Juglans regia).
They first oiled whith linseed oil and having a polished Shellac-Finish. The collars and the pins from white copper and the wedge and the middle pin are brass. Sorry for my bad englishI never paid enough attention in the school.

Those scales are amazing. I usually prefer the traditional designs, but this... Wow.

Very nice scale shape. It makes me wonder why we don't (and didn't) see scale shapes like that on commercial razors . . .

Agree with you steve... certainly cost would be a factor with 'everyday' type razors but you would wonder why some more imagination hasn't been shown with the high end ones.
In another post a very good point was raised... for the most part the difference between (let's use dovo as an example, although they're not alone) the basic model and the high end razor is flashy etching on the blade and scale materials... the blade shape and steel are basically the same.
That being the case... and the shave being the important part... you do just as well to buy the base model. Exotic steels and effort but into details like scale shape would really set a razor apart and make it collectable.
