    Default Saving label on razor?

    I have seen the ways to save the label on a hone but have one on a razor I would like to use but save.

    Today I was given a couple of things from a very good friends dad who has in many ways has become a second father. A little back story... {Very short version!}

    3 friends and one of them was in Germany around 1960. He brought back 2 Puma razors to his buddies. One was used extensively and is no more. The following is the second with little use. It still has the label on the scales in German. I haven't tried to translate it yet. I would like to use it at least once in a while but keep the label.

    Any ideas/suggestions?

    " der ungewohnlich zarte Schnitt des PUMA Messers beruht darauf dass der Stahl zweimal geschmiedet durchgehammert wird"
    translate roughly to:
    The unusual delicate cut of the PUMA knife is from twice hammered forged steel.

    And don't google durchgehammert unless you want to see German porn, hammering has taken on a different meaning with the internet

    A little bit of mineral oil will probably free the label from the scales where you can slide it off in tact.

    Thanks.

    I was more thinking about keeping the label on the scales.

    keeping them on the scales, I would cover the label plus a little bit extra with a piece of clear contact paper.
    A more permanent way is to coat it with clear fingernail polish, but if you ever wanted the label off you would have to sand it down.

    The contact paper would seem a little tacky...Fingernail polish ...Not bad.

    I do not want to pretend that this is NOS. Every time that I see a hone with the "original" label that has been sealed. I automatically think it is a fake or a facsimile.
