Wood burning
I just read an article on wood burning. Normally you do it with a soldering iron style pen, but in this demo it uses metal tape, and the sun. Just mask off the unwanted area and burn with a magnifying glass. Do you think this might work with razor scales? I have a frederick rogers with broken scales(with engraving), I guess I could make new one and burn the engraving back into the new ones. I'll have to try it out on a scrap piece of wood to see if it works first.

It will work. I don't know about masking, but it X3 and more magnification will burn the wood...

This is the link. I think you could make it more accurate than this example. I guess I will have to try it sometime to see if it works. I have some copper tape somewhere, I wonder if that would be sufficient or do you need a thicker layer. I will have to experiment.
