Default Fun set of custom scales

Recently I was working with someone who asked for a specific design and I was up for the challenge... I drew up some plans and made the shape of the razor, another thing that was wasted that I have never delt with was a "exposed wedge"

    Scales, orange transparent acrylic
    Wedge, clear blue acrylic

If your happy with those scales & the person who had you make them, is happy too,,, then that is all that matters. I've seen many a different spin on razors & scales since I started down this path 6 years ago. Beauty is truly in the "eye of the beholder".

At first glance & last glance, the scales look broken to me.

Yes sir, one thing I have learned with this hobby is that one mans trash is another mans treasure. This is completely outside the of the traditional look and feel to the razor so I would expect people to feel the way you do... But I still very much respect ur opinion...

Don't get me wrong,,, I don't think they are trash. Even if I thought they were the worst set of scales I had ever seen, I would not call your work trash. I'm not one for traditional scales all the time,,, actually a few of the scales I made a few years ago, were not traditional by any means. I like to see different ideas.

It's just that at first glance they look like the orange scales are broken off at the wedge area. If you had exposed the wedge by removing a "half-moon" section, coming in from the heel,, then I would not have thought "broken" & I would have understood the "exposed wedge" idea.

I cry a little inside every time I see some funny coloured, odd shaped set of scales on a vintage razor. I think it takes away its soul. Thats just me though. If your customers happy, all good, variety is the spice of life after all.

I love the out of the box mind set. I get tired of the same old same old on every single razor ever made. Thats why I started making my own scales to fit my personal style.

That being said, BRAVO for thinking out of the box. I love it...
