    Default Wood for scales?

Has anyone used normal woods for scales like cherry, mahogany or anything like that?

Yes! I mostly use ordinary wood for scales mahogany, teak, oak, pine.
all look well but not as nice as the exotic stuff.
    They tend to be featureless.

For ten bucks and whatever for shipping, I'm thinking this would be ideal for making scales and othe small projects. There is enough exotic wood in this pack to keep someone in the scale business for quite some time.
I am thinking about using some Purpleheart when it comes time for me to try my hand at scale making.

Just thought you would like to know.

    Cheers
