    Default Discoloration on white bone...

Is there a way to "bleach" some white bone scales that have some rust discoloration near the pivot hole? I'm afraid sanding would remove too much material. They are pretty dainty. I wonder is actual bleach would eat them up...

A soak in some 3% hydrogen peroxide often does the trick for me. Bleach is too strong, IMO

Would that concentration be the kind used for first aid?

Yes 3% is standard grade H2O2 found in most pharmacies. Comes in a brown bottle and the percentage is written on the label.

Sometimes you can find higher percentages at hair salon supply stores.
