    Default Some of my projects...

Hi. I've been doing honing for a while now and I have just started trying to get my feet wet I'm restoration work. I am still very much of a beginner and I will be having to lean on you guys over time for tips and advice (the way I have in the honing group). These are my latest two projects.

I wanted to leave this razor with a matte-like finish with brush marks in the concave area of the belly. I like how it turned out. I could still go full mirror polish. What do you guys think?

Earn looks like it's frowning with the hone wear, Shumate looks good, I never liked a mirror finish always satin for me. Tc

It also had a slight heel hook. The pic was before I honed it. It took a mean edge and honed up pretty effortlessly. Must be some good steel and/or a tight grind.

Looks nice and clean! Still, a bit frowny. This happens as a blade is restored, it seems. More material is removed from the middle parts and the stiffer ends are less abraded. Human nature!
Some profiling of the edges, particularly the Ern, might give great benefit, IMO.

Thanks. The Ern has already been honed and sent to its new home. I corrected the slight frown and heel hook. Honing the Shumate will be tomorrow's project.

Ah, so you are honing it to send to a new home?

The Shumate might just stay with me. I am really fond of that brand. I have a Shumate Tonso that is absolutely killer.
