Looks like my first one. Got it cleaned up good. Now comes progression sanding to remove the scratches.

I'm just a hobbyist. I do only hand sanding/polishing. It takes longer but I use a much higher grit. The lower grits can leave some deep scratches that take for ever to remove not counting the mass metal removed.

I start out trying to shine up a bit to better see the pits and junk and then decide which way to go.
