Wood and copper.
Im working on a knife and i want the handle to be wood and copper. Like copper hilt and butt cap, but i was wanting to get some ideas on what kind of wood would look good with copper.

Thanked: 635Don't have an opinion on the wood but I would use brass. Copper is too soft.

Thanked: 3215I love the look of polished copper, I would go with a dark wood with reddish undertones, rosewood, Mexican Ironwood/ Palo Fierro, or cocobolo.

I agree about dark woods. Especially something with reddish undertones. I have some dark ironwood burl with reddish orange swirls that I wanted to use copper liners with. Polished copper looks nice, but with any polished metal with a knife it doesn't last long once you start to use it.

Well I thought, I posted a reply but I guess it never actually posted. Anyways. I like the suggestions. What do you guys think about using wenge or figured bubinga or black palm. If I did the wenge it was only be sanded smooth and some light coats of oil as I love the feel of the wood. I do like walnut though, especially some highly figured walnut would be nice. I guess the best thing to do would be to take some copper into wood craft play the matching game.
