Thanked: 3215Shop storage and source ideas
Recently I have been looking to redoing, storage in my shop and looking for ideas to maximize space.
I came across this video on the TESTED YouTube channel and an interview and tour of Adam Savage’s shop, from Myth Busters.
In this video they talk about the Sortimo storage system, it is a great modular, fully adjustable storage system. It is pricy, but looks very interesting and useful. I use a lot of clear plastic storage boxes, but it drives me crazy that they are all different sizes.
This modular system is an OCD dream. The good thing is, you can just buy what you need and can always add to the system, and it will all fit together.
This channel, shop tours and discussions are packed with great shop ideas. Some of the other videos go into sources for finding unique tools and materials that may be useful to many of us, as does this one, on building an inexpensive toolkit.
It is an interesting channel, with lots of good ideas.

I have been threatening my son that "as soon as it cools off" we are going to clean out and organize the shop we share for his knife and my razor projects. Well, the cool fall weather is here, and I'm dreading it-it is an absolute disaster, sadly.

Thanked: 3215Here is a great, simple and inexpensive bank of drawers for shop storage. This young guy (Jeremy Schmidt), is a genius, and makes some very cool stuff.
I am thinking of making this bench that will be screwed to the wall, and will almost double my drawer storage and I get another working surface. I will use double up MDF for a 1.5in top in place of cement.
I can also make the drawers from ½ in MDF, and use Baltic Birch for the drawer bottoms, fronts, and ¾” cabinet birch for the cases, to save a few bucks.
They would replace 3, 5’, Craftsman Tool chests. I am always stacking something on top of the top chest and have to move stuff to open the box to access the top chest.

Here is my Mobile Work Shop,,,,
I live in a condo, so I have to roll my shop outside to work on messy or noisy projects. I have been doing a lot of leather projects on it lately, but some wood scales will come soon.
Thanks for looking,,,,,,

Good God, John, it hurts my eyes to see such neatness and organization! How do you find anything in all the alignment of tools?

Yeah, I am struck by the clean, orderly efficiency of the whole set-up. Necessity is the mother of invention. Awesome setup, John!
