    Default Reynolds with cracked toe

Size: 18.8 KBSo I picked up this Reynolds for two dollars at an antique shop. I didn't know if it would be a razor I could restore to Shave readiness or not. I only liked it because it has a fish a fish etched in the blade, which as a flyfisherman appeals to me. Anyway you can clearly see that the razor has a rather large and significant crack and chip on the toe. In addition to that the razor appears to have a frown and some on even hone wear. Just wondering if there are any thoughts or suggestions about restoration in terms of eliminating the crack. I was thinking of rounding the tip with some sandpaper or using my Harbor freight diamond hone. Of course the spine might also need to be rounded, but aside from a Dremel tool, I don't have any other tools to round the spine effectively. Thoughts or suggestions on what I might want to do? Thanks in advance. Name: IMG_2185.jpg

The direction that the crack runs makes it unlikely that you will be able to get away with simply rounding the toe. It looks like you will have to have it cut back. If it gets cut square right at where the crack looks like it ends it should end up right beside the 'h' in hollow. There is a thread called the butchered blade in which everyone there is working with razors that need serious modification in order to shave again. Your razor also has a serious frown that needs to be fixed. It is completely savable, I have no idea where your skill set is at. You can do it yourself or see if you can find a friend to help. Look through that thread for ideas.

It's not what you know, it's who you take fishing!
