Thanked: 0Blade issue
I recently inherited 2 older razors, a Klas Tornblom and a Solingen of some variety. They are both rough, and definitely need some love. I read the sticky and plan to go over the Klas with some hand sanding/polishing and a hone. The Solingen has another issue- the blade is not even. The ends of the actual blade seem to be pretty close in width, but the middle is thinner, almost as if it was sharpened more than the edges. Is there anything I can do about this? I can't find anyone else with a similar problem.
Trying to get pics is a bear, I don't have a great camera.

Hello, its 'll y coll to have inherited razors that is a great gift to have passed on. The center of the blade being narrow compared to the toe and heel is called a frown. This is an issue from honing and can be corrected. There are a couple different ways to fix the issue. First I would ask if you have ever honed a razor? If not it might be best to send the razor to a respectable source and have it corrected. Being that it is an heirloom razor that might be the best option. I wish you the best if you have any other questions please ask and I bet someone with more detailed info will be along to join in.

Thanked: 1184I bet if you hold the edge down on something flat you will be able to see light going under the middle. When I say set it down I mean light as a feather set it down. It would take a real hone gymnast to just hone it :<0) Repair time for that 1. And yeah do a search for frowning razor in the search box.

Good judgment comes from experience, and experience....well that comes from poor judgment.

Oh boy, imo that might not be salvaged. Be tough anyway. Someone with more experience may have a better opinion. Best of luck.

Thanked: 55It's probably not going to be your daily shaver but you should be able to shave with it, after all your family member was able to do so.

Thanked: 0My plan was to get the Klas in shape for shaving first and then tinker with the other one and see if it is workable.
Do you think polishing will ruin the 'X' on the blade of the top one? Hard to see in the photo but there is the logo on it. Not engraved.

Thanked: 115Seems Like Klas Has A What I Would Call A SunBurst For A Etched Logo!!!!!!!!! Polishing With A Rag Will Not Remove Logo Completely,, But Yes The More Polishing Etching Will Fade,,,, Sorry But The Other One Really Nicely But Has Seen Better Days,,Ty
